Distractions In Meditation
MENTAL DISTRACTIONS HAPPEN TO EVERYBODY :
- Yes, as a beginner, you'll essentially lose your attention from the Awareness-Breathing cycles periodically. Simply accept it as the first and the foremost part of any meditation.
- It happens with everybody and has to happen with you also.
- There is no loss and no damage to your efforts by these repeated mental distractions or mental clutter.
HANDLING MENTAL CLUTTER :
- After a few moments you'll suddenly remember "Oh ! I was doing meditation. What am I doing now?".
- At this point don't feel bad or curse yourself for being absentminded or for having so much of mental clutter. Just start wherever you find yourself and begin once again.
- It's the same "Awareness-Breathing" cycle once more. That's all.
- As you begin to practice meditation as a beginner, your defenses and mental barriers start opening up immediately. Consequently, your suppressed feelings and stresses start coming to the surface.
- They were always there within you all the time, but you had suppressed them in your sub-conscious mind because they were painful to face emotionally.
- Meditation helps you to throwaway those junk emotions coming from your past by first bringing them to the surface of your conscious mind.
- Simply, very simply, be willing, wait and just wait for those stressful and restless feelings to come and go.
- They are all temporary They'll all vanish after sometime. V Don't make the mistake of leaving now because "It is not working for me" or "It is too cumbersome" or "It is too stressful, you know".
